Dear Friend,
Welcome to the 2nd weekend and the 14th day of Year 2023. Another working week has officially ended and we have been led into the time of the week to power down and rejuvenate.
The number 2 is the number of our LORD while the number 14 is significant with generational inferences, double perfection and completion. It is equated with deliverance and release. My prayer for you is that this article will bring you to the time and place of perfection, completion, deliverance and release into all truth as you engage it.
The weekend is a good time to take things slow, look into how your year has been so far and what you can do to recalibrate things correctly. You can make your weekend a continuous intentional time of recalibration in this super-busy world we live in. To recalibrate is to change the way you do or think about something. Therefore, being intentional about what you do in your weekend is pivotal to having a great year. The weekend is not just a time of rest, it is also a time of restructuring. We all must never tire from digging for gold in the areas of simplifying our lives, we must never tire of having fresh encounters.
I have realized that if I can be in a state of spiritual correctness, meaning, I’m not in any form of spiritual rot, and I’m able to have clarity of mind regarding my schedule, and put in the work required at the right time, I am able to make progress and less likely to feel overwhelmed.
As human beings, we sometimes find our spiritual lives in the back seat when it ought to take the driver’s position, hence my charge to you and I today is to make the weekend a time of recalibration and rejuvenation so that we can take on our new week ahead empowered and invigorated afresh.
This weekend, and as the year progresses, do look into these 4 things:
1.Retreat, Recalibrate And Rejuvenate: The weekend can be the perfect quiet time if you are able to pull it off. If you are able, you may do a get-away to a quiet place where you can fully focus and recharge but if you aren’t, you may consider shutting down your devices, staying indoors and just shutting down all bustling activity. Depending on your season of life, you can make this work with whatever is available to you because where there’s a will, there’s a way. Bottom line is, be intentional about reducing the hustle and bustle of your life over the weekend. Not every weekend should be spent partying or engaging in activities. Some can be a time to retreat, recalibrate and rejuvenate.
2. Be Intentional About Engaging Spiritual Practices: Spiritual practices are means and avenues for growth and drawing closer to GOD. They are means of building spiritual muscles. Whatever practices you may have highlighted to engage, ensure you do engage. Sometimes all you need is just to take the first step. You don’t have to feel like it before you start it. What spiritual practice(s) would you be engaging? Prayer? Fasting? Meditation? Bible study? Whichever you decide to engage, be intentional about engaging it fully.
3. Take Time to Read: Readers, they say, are Leaders. For this, I recommend that you get a traditional hard copy book or you can use your Amazon Kindle devices without Wi-Fi to read. Only ensure you have pre-downloaded the books you want to read. The weekend is also a great time to get some bible reading and bible study done. If you like me prefer to get the physical book, ensure you find a comfortable spot and if you prefer reading via your electronic devices, just so you get the various versions, ensure you have them pre-downloaded. The YouVersion app gives you the option of downloading the various translations hence, you do not need to be online to read or study your bible. Please remember that the goal is to steer clear of the temptation to have online access and be distracted by notifications.
4. Journal Your Gratitude: This is one of the simplest things to do, yet many do not engage this practice. Gratitude and journaling your gratitude must become a way of life. If you find that you are so busy during the week and you cannot journal your gratitude, then make sure that this becomes a must-do weekend practice for you. Start by writing down three to five things you are grateful for in the course of the week and I’m sure as you reminisce on your week, you would find many things to populate your journal. Ensure you don’t fall into the easy trap of taking your blessings for granted. Train and discipline yourself to be intentional about appreciation and gratitude.
As you would have noticed everywhere you turn, these four things listed above are not things that are alien or new to you. However, we sometimes discountenance the simple things of life. I encourage you dear friend, let this weekend be spent with you engaging the simple things of life.
Cheers to your intentional commitment to your spiritual growth!?
