FAST FRIDAY FOR NIGERIA
FRIDAY 10TH FEBRUARY 2023
THEME: MERCY AND FAVOUR TO REDEEM NIGERIA.
TEXT: PSALM 102:13 “You will arise and have mercy on Zion (Nigeria); For the time to favour her, Yes, the set time, has come.”
Good morning beloved parent-intercessors. Welcome to another fast Friday. I trust you are keeping safe at your end, engaging the days with positivity and not allowing the times to dampen your mood and demeanor. May the LORD show us and our nation mercy and may He cause His goodness to pass over our land and His favour rest on us this season and beyond in JESUS’ name Amen.
In the wake of all that goes on in our nation, as we prepare for our general elections, you will agree with me that we cannot but stand guard for our nation hence we shall be taking today as Fast Friday for Nigeria as opposed to fasting for our firstborns. The times we are in requires this of us especially because it is darkest just before dawn. We are on the verge of something new and if we steward things well in the place of prayer, we will truly see the salvation of the LORD our GOD. As parent-intercessors, just as we lift up our children before the Father, I want to enjoin us to do this also as we pray for safe passage for the new Nigeria that we are trusting Abba to bring forth for us. Many are the plans, plots and ploys of men in this season, but we declare the COUNSEL OF GOD ONLY over our nation comes to bear Amen.
Abba has declared the month of February OUR MONTH OF FAVOR AND ESTABLISHMENT hence we shall be asking the LORD for the release of His mercy and favour over our nation. The voice and aegis of mercy by the Father drowns out every other voice hence we ask Him to show us as a nation and people mercy and favour. We all have sinned and come short of what the Father expects of us, both the leaders and the followers, none of us can extricate himself/herself from this. We can however return to our Father to help us as we set the course of our nation’s navigation straight and who better than intercessors to cry out to the Father on behalf of this nation Nigeria and her people.
In addition to our key text, below are scriptures for us to meditate on and pray with:
1 JOHN 1:8-10 “If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling GOD a liar and showing that His Word has no place in our hearts.”
2 CHRONICLES 7:14 “Then if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”
MATTHEW 6:12a “and forgive us our sins,…”
HEBREWS 4:16 “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious GOD. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”
Let us Pray:
• Father, we ask for Your mercy and forgiveness for our nation Nigeria today as we take out this day to intercede for her. Cleanse us and our land of all bloodshed. Cleanse us of all sins. Cleanse us of all selfishness. Let the blood of JESUS CHRIST do a thorough cleansing of our land and people. Father, as You look down, May You see only the righteousness of Your son in us as a nation and people! LORD JESUS, intercede for Nigeria. Come to her aid! Cleanse us and cause the voice of violence and dishonesty to cease in her midst in JESUS’ name.
• Father, arise in Your mercy and cause Your fragrance of favour to be released over our land. Establish Your rule, reign and will concerning the administration of our nation. Help us to birth a new Nigeria LORD.
