FAST FRIDAY FOR FIRSTBORNS FRIDAY 17 JUNE 2022 THEME: HELP MY FIRSTBORN LIVE A CONSECRATED LIFE O LORD TEXT: EXODUS 13:2 “Consecrate to Me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and beast; it is Mine.”
Beloved parent-intercessors, welcome to another Fast Friday. Today we want to look into praying for the consecration of our firstborns and by extension our other children. The dictionary defines consecration as the action of making or declaring something, (typically a church) or someone, sacred. Knowing that scriptures say that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit (See 1 Corinthians 6:19-20) then it behoves on us to ask the LORD for grace for our children to be separated and set apart for His use.
As parents, we have been praying this prayer of consecration in intercession over them, today however, we want to ask the LORD for grace and help for our children so that they will decide to live a consecrated life, a life yielded to GOD in purity, perfection and obedience.
Let us meditate on the scriptures below and be spurred to pray:
1 Peter 2:9 ESV “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
2 Timothy 2:20-21 NKJV “But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.”
Leviticus 20:7 ESV “Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, for I am the LORD your GOD.”
Jeremiah 31:33-34 NKJV “But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their GOD, and they shall be My people. No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”
This is our prayer today: Father I present my child(ren) for the gift and grace of consecration. Help them navigate this fallen world in a consecrated state in the name of JESUS CHRIST Amen.
